Stability Evaluation and Degradation Kinetics of Rutin in Ficus pumila leaves Formulated with Oil extracted from Moringa oleifera seeds

چکیده

Ficus pumila leaf and the seed oil of Moringa oleifera contain significant amount of vitamins and vital nutrients which mitigate vunerable diseases. Essentially, the goal is to screen the stability of rutin, a valuable antioxidant and validate the mechanism of its kinetic degradation in Ficus pumila leaf with and without oil extracted from M. Oleifera seeds. Experiments were planned according to standard methods and practices and rutin degradation in both raw leaf extract and the extract formulated with the seed oil were investigated at varying temperatures (25-100°C) and at different time intervals. The results showed that reaction kinetics through heat treatments of the rutin were well characterized by first-order kinetics. The activation energy for the rutin degradation in the raw leaf extract and the extract treated with M. oleifera seed oil were 2.1 and 6.9 Kcal/mol respectively. The shelf life of rutin in the formulated extract at 25°C was approximately ten times higher than that of the raw extract. The results indicate that M. oleifera seed oil incorporated in food preparation containing rutin enhances rutin enrichment and stability.

Extractability of Rutin in Herbal Tea Preparations of Moringa stenopetala Leaves

The study examined the comparative rutin contents and antioxidant potentials of the two closely related Moringa species: the Ethiopian (Moringa stenopetala) and Indian Moringa (M. oleifera). It is demonstrated that M. stenopetala leaves extract was a far superior (more than five-fold better) antioxidant than M. oleifera. Rutin was the principal constituent of M. stenopetala leaves while the com...

Oil and fatty acid diversity in genetically variable clones of Moringa oleifera from India.

The physico-chemical properties of oil from Moringa oleifera seeds from India were determined in the present study. The petroleum ether extracted oil ranged from 27.83 - 45.07% on kernel basis and 15.1-28.4% on whole seed basis in 20 different clones. Leaves and pods showed a good source of vitamin C. Oleic acid (C18:1) has been found to be the major fatty acid being 78.91-85.52% as compared to...
